US and Israel-based cloud visibility solutions provider Orca Security on Tuesday announced that it has raised $55 million in a Series B funding round, which brings the total raised by the company to $82 million.

The latest funding round was led by ICONIQ Growth, with participation from GGV Capital, YL Ventures, and Silicon Valley CISO Investments. Orca plans on using the money to further expand its platform’s cloud security and compliance capabilities, and increase the size of its R&D and sales teams. It also plans on opening new sales offices in Australia and the UK.

Orca Security provides security and compliance solutions for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Its platform is designed to help organizations identify vulnerabilities, malware, misconfigurations, exposed data, and weak or compromised passwords.

The company says its product, which can be deployed in minutes, prioritizes issues based on severity and environmental context, and it only pushes important security alerts in an effort to prevent alert fatigue.

“Cloud security is fundamentally broken. Practitioners are forced to waste their time installing and maintaining security agents instead of managing actual security risks,” said Avi Shua, CEO and co-founder of Orca Security.

“Even after spending years plumbing agents in their environment, coverage is usually limited to less than fifty percent. What’s worse, agent-based solutions lack context. They can’t see beyond individual issues residing on individual assets, which leads to a never-ending barrage of meaningless security alerts. The fact is, competing solutions view cloud resources as simple lists whereas bad actors see a graph with a clear path of attack. Orca Security changes that paradigm by visualizing cloud resources through the lens of an attacker,” Shua added.

Orca also says it’s expanding its global partner network and it plans on launching an official partner program in the coming months.

The company recently made headlines after getting into a spat with Palo Alto Networks, which threatened legal action against Orca Security after the latter published a video comparing products from the two companies.
