Networking giant Cisco has announced plans to acquire Israel-based cloud security solutions provider Lightspin.
Israeli media reported that Cisco is set to pay around $200 million — possibly $250 million — for the cloud security firm.
Lightspin’s platform provides infrastructure-as-code (IaC) security, cloud security posture management (CSPM) and Kubernetes security posture management (KSPM), workload scanning, attack path analysis, runtime protection, attack surface discovery, and SOC2 compliance capabilities.
According to Cisco, the addition of Lightspin to its cloud security portfolio will enable its customers to “identify, prioritize, and remediate critical cloud security risks without the hassle of extensive configuration requirements”.
“The Lightspin team has extensive technical expertise in cloud security, product development, and SaaS security products,” Cisco said. “The team’s experience supporting DevOps and DevSecOps with context and tooling will accelerate our ability to deliver the solutions and support needed to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities across cloud applications and environments.”
Lightspin emerged from stealth in late 2020 and has raised a total of $25 million from investors.
News of the acquisition comes just weeks after Cisco announced buying cloud security firm Valtix.
