Authorization layer solution provider Cerbos has raised $7.5 million in an extended seed round led by Omers Ventures.

Cerbos, a startup offering an open source authorization layer solution for software developers, has raised $7.5 million in an extended seed funding round that brings the total investment in the company to $11 million.

The new funding round was led by Omers Ventures, with additional investment from several angel investors.

Founded in 2021, the London-based Cerbos simplifies the implementation and management of user permissions and authorization in applications by separating the authorization logic from the core code.

Cerbos’ stateless solution can be deployed within the customer’s stack, either in the cloud or on-premises, and relies on REST and gRPC APIs to integrate with existing applications.

The authorization layer allows organizations to use their own identity provider and supports JSON Web Token (JWT) for integration with authentication providers.

According to Cerbos, the solution can be integrated with existing audit processes, it logs requests and responses, it provides visibility into what was allowed or denied, and delivers debug access requests.

This week, the company launched a cloud solution for streamlined implementation and management of authorization policies.

Cerbos says the new investment will help it advance its offerings.
