Centrify, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based provider of Identity Management solutions, has unveiled expanded support for Mac OS X computers, the recently released Apple Watch, and Near Field Communication (NFC).
Centrify, which offered existing support for Active Directory-based Group Policies for Mac systems, has extended its Mac policy and identity management features to also be delivered via the cloud, and has launched a remote application management for Mac to allow IT managers to push apps to managed Macs from the cloud.
Along with new reports for Mac inventory management, Centrify enhanced its Mac smartcard support for Common Access Cards (CAC) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards.
Expanded support for wearables, including Apple Watch, Android Wear and Samsung devices, includes the integration of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on. When accessing IT resources secured with MFA, users can receive a notification on their wearable device to verify their identity.
Additionally, Centrify unveiled an “app lock” feature that allows users to be prompted to unlock the Centrify app with a fingerprint or NFC tag, or with a pin or passcode.
Last month, Centrify announced enhancements to its cloud-based Identity Service for Microsoft Office 365, including improvements in secure user provisioning, license management, single sign on (SSO) and mobile device management for Office 365.
Founded in 2004 by Tom Kemp, Adam Au and Paul Moore, Centrify claims over 5000 customers, including half of the Fortune 50 and over 80 federal agencies. The company has raised over $94 million in funding to date, including a $42 million round in May 2014. Investors include Samsung Ventures, Fortinet, Docomo Capital, Index Ventures, Mayfield Fund, Accel Partners, INVESCO Private Capital and Sigma Partners, among others.
