Centrify, a Santa Clara, California-based provider of Identity Management solutions, today announced significant enhancements in its cloud-based Identity Service for Microsoft Office 365 (O365).
According to the company, the improvements come in the areas of secure user provisioning, license management, single sign on (SSO) and mobile device management for O365.
Microsoft-certified as a “Works with Office 365” identity partner solution, Centrify Identity Service (CIS) for O365 runs on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and offers an Active Directory-based SSO solution for customers looking to migrate to O365 simply, quickly, and without additional infrastructure.
Enhancements in CIS for O365 include:
• Granular Licensing and Entitlement – New enhancements to CIS’s automated account provisioning allow IT ensure each account receives the right license and revoked accounts get repurposed as appropriate. Additionally, O365 license consumption is consolidated and automatically tracked within CIS.
• Security and Simplicity for O365 – Customers can implement granular security policies to ensure only the right users have access to O365. The system allows IT managers to build policies based on time, location, network, device, and more – and to implement multi-factor authentication.
• SSO and Secure Access to On-premises SharePoint – Customers can determine what remains on-premises, and what gets migrated to the cloud. CIS includes a new On-premises App Gateway, which enables organizations to elect to keep their SharePoint deployment on-premises, and move only their mail to O365. CIS App Gateway provides secure, encrypted access to behind-the-firewall SharePoint, with integrated SSO and no need for VPN clients or configuration.
With CIS, Centrify claims that customers can typically migrate in just days with full support for hybrid environments and without impacting user productivity.

Earlier this year, Centrify launched a new cloud-based identity management solution (Centrify Privilege Service) designed to address the needs of hybrid IT environments of on-premises and cloud-based systems.
Founded in 2004 by Tom Kemp, Adam Au and Paul Moore, Centrify claims over 5000 customers, including half of the Fortune 50 and over 80 federal agencies. The company has raised over $94 million in funding to date, including a $42 million round in May 2014. Investors include Samsung Ventures, Fortinet, Docomo Capital, Index Ventures, Mayfield Fund, Accel Partners, INVESCO Private Capital and Sigma Partners, among others.
