Blue Coat Systems today introduced Blue Coat ProxyOne, a Web security appliance that brings the same enterprise-class Web security used by FORTUNE 500 companies to smaller organizations at an affordable price point.
The ProxyOne appliance integrates Web filtering, inline malware and anti-virus scanning and on-box reporting to help enable safer use of Web 2.0 applications within organizations.
Social Media Networks such as Facebook and Twitter to continue to post a threat to businesses across the board. In 2010, Panda Security reported that one third of small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs) experienced a malware or virus infection via social networks through July, and 23 percent actually lost sensitive data via these networks, according to Panda Security’s first annual Social Media Risk Index.

Sasi Murthy, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Blue Coat told SecurityWeek that ProxyOne also offers protection to remote users via ProxyClient software, though the ProxyClient is only currently available for the Windows platform, and not available for Mac. Murthy says support for Mac users will be coming soon.
Security without Compromising Performance: By utilizing caching technologies, ProxyOne appliances speed the scanning process with a “scan once, serve many” model, so businesses don’t have to compromise performance for security.
Identify Infected End Users: ProxyOne appliances provide detailed on-box reporting of Web-based user activity, including potentially infected end users, compliance with usage policies and the number of threats attempting to access the network.

Blue Coat says that ProxyOne appliances can be deployed and configured in six steps by general IT staff and doesn’t require an in house security expert. The appliances include pre-configured policies and deliver automatic software upgrades and immediate security updates.
ProxyOne appliances are now available with pricing starting at $8,999 for 100 users, which includes the appliance, software licenses, automatic security updates and 24X7 support for one year. The appliance can scale to support up to 2,000 users.
