Barracuda Networks announced the availability of new 10 GbE interfaces for some models of its web filter appliances this week.

The new interfaces, available for the Barracuda Web Filter 1010 and 1011 models, feature increased performance and capacity to offer integrated content filtering, application blocking and malware protection for highly demanding networks.

Barracuda Web Filter appliances provide IT security teams with granular, real-time visibility into online activity, broken down by individual users and applications, and let administrators create and enforce effective content and access policies across the enterprise.

A single Barracuda Web Filter 1010 / 1011 device can now support 100,000 simultaneous TCP Connections at 2 Gbps throughput, Barracuda said.

In addition, four network interfaces can be used simultaneously in a WCCP deployment or as two LAN/WAN pairs in an inline deployment, the company said. Multiple Web Filter appliances can be clustered for scalability and redundancy.

The Barracuda Web Filter 1010 and 1011 are priced at $79,999 for the appliance and $26,399 per year for “Energize Update” subscriptions in North America.
