Security operations center (SOC)-as-a-service provider Arctic Wolf Networks this week announced plans to add risk-based vulnerability assessment capabilities to its portfolio, with the acquisition of RootSecure Corp.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Arctic Wolf’s offering includes a “Concierge Security Engineer” (CSE) serving as a single point of contact for a customer. Founded in 2012, the company aims to help companies combat the cyber-security skills shortage and eliminates the need of building own-managed SOCs.

Founded in 2017, Canada-based RootSecure provides customers with risk-based vulnerability assessment solutions to continuously probe networks, discover connected devices, and test an organization’s social engineering resilience.

“As customers embrace SOC-as-a-service, they also want to understand their vulnerabilities. This acquisition augments our current offerings by adding comprehensive risk assessment to improve any customer’s overall cybersecurity posture,” Brian NeSmith, CEO and co-founder of Arctic Wolf, said.

In late October, Arctic Wolf announced a $45 million Series C funding round it said would be used to accelerate growth and meet demand for its SOC-as-a-service offering. To date, the company has raised a total of $91.2 million (it closed a $16 million Series B funding in January).
