AirWatch, a provider of mobile security and mobile device management (MDM) solutions, on Tuesday announced that it has taken a $25 million investment from VC firm Accel Partners.
According to the company, the funding will help accelerate global growth and scale research and development.
In addition to offering a mobile security and device management platform, AirWatch also offers a secure content management solution, Secure Content Locker, which the company said would also benefit from the investment, which will be used to fuel new innovations.
AirWatch’s solutions can be used stand-alone for unique BYOD requirements or as a scalable enterprise-grade mobility platform.
“We believe that enterprise mobility currently represents the next big secular technological shift we will encounter,” said Ryan Sweeney, partner at Accel, in a statement.
AirWatch claims more than 6,500 customers around the world, including Delta, Lowe’s, United Airlines, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Skanska, PepsiCo, Henry Ford Health System, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Best Buy and Abbott Laboratories.
The company said that it is adding more than 500 new clients per month.
Earlier this week, the company launched AirWatch Professional, a new solution designed to provide small businesses with MDM functions.
Deployed in the cloud, AirWatch Professional enables administrators to remotely manage mobile devices across multiple mobile operating systems (Apple iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone and Windows Phone 8) and is available in 15 languages.
“AirWatch Professional is specifically designed for small businesses that require simplicity and ease-of-use to operate efficiently and effectively,” Marshall said. “While providing the most advanced and innovative feature set for enterprises, we also recognize the challenges that small businesses face with mobility management.”
