Android users can add some useful privacy, security, convenience, and potentially life saving features to their mobile device with new software released from NetQin Mobile today.
With NetQin Mobile Manager V3.0 for Android, users can create a “hidden doorway” to access a private space on their mobile device where they can keep private contacts, and private call logs and messages from contacts marked as private.
Want a little more privacy when you’re on the go? The software also adds an advanced call manager, allowing users to add unwanted callers to a black list. When unwanted calls from the “black list” are received, they can be automatically rejected by the system. Along with the black list is an option to completely reject calls from unknown numbers. Some of these features are available with services such as Google Voice, but it’s surely a nice feature to have sitting on the device itself without having to route calls through a third party.
I know SecurityWeek readers would never text while driving so maybe this next feature isn’t applicable. New “Safe Driving” features in NetQin Mobile Manager 3.0 are designed to keep users from being distracted while driving. A speed sensor (using GPS) can detect when a certain speed is reached, and upon reaching this mark, Safe Driving mode will be activated and automatically reject calls and send out automatic “I’m driving leave me alone!” text message responses or completely ignoring calls, depending on what setting the user selects. Could be frustrating at times, but features like this should become standard in all mobile devices.
While other apps are available that provide similar features to those offered in NetQin Mobile Manager 3, this is an attractive package that offers some much welcomed features desired by many Android users.
