Alert Logic Acquires Dallas Cybersecurity Firm Critical Watch

Alert Logic, a Houston, Texas-based provider of Security-as-a-Service solutions for cloud environments, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Dallas-based Critical Watch for an undisclosed sum.

Alert Logic, a Houston, Texas-based provider of Security-as-a-Service solutions for cloud environments, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Dallas-based Critical Watch for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2000, Critical Watch offers vulnerability management and compliance solutions through its Active Countermeasure Intelligence (ACI) Platform, which combines risk intelligence with active mitigation and “unifies the elements of risks” to help security teams take appropriate actions.

According to Alert Logic, the acquisition will enhance its vulnerability and configuration scanning, security analytics and vulnerability research capabilities.

“Critical Watch has delivered proven security intelligence and vulnerability management solutions to some of the world’s most demanding enterprises,” said Gray Hall, CEO of Alert Logic. “The integration of the Critical Watch team and their related technologies into the Alert Logic portfolio will enable us to more quickly reach our stated goal of providing outcome-focused security for our customers.”

“The ACI Platform is a security platform used for exposure and defense modeling and countermeasure recommendations,” Alert Logic explained. “ACI Platform analytics collects and analyzes information from disparate security technologies, as well as contextual information from risk, compliance and governance sources to compare vulnerabilities with mitigation and protection actions to analyze and prioritize threats and offer countermeasures.”

Alert Logic offers Security-as-a-Service in the cloud and designed to work with hosting and cloud service providers.

AlertLogic itself was acquired in August 2013 by by private equity firmWelsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.
