Yahoo! announced on Monday that Bob Lord has been appointed the company’s new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
Lord joins Yahoo! after its previous CISO, Alex Stamos, left the company to take on the role of Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Facebook. After Stamos’ departure, Ramses Martinez was named interim CISO, but in August, after only a month with Yahoo, he left the company to join Apple. Yahoo has been searching for a permanent CISO and now it appears the Internet giant has found one.
Prior to coming to Yahoo!, Lord served as CISO in Residence at security firm Rapid7. He also held the title of information security director at Twitter, and various product and security-related positions at Red Hat, AOL, and Netscape.
“Bob will lead our security team – known as the Paranoids – in offensive and defensive protection of our more than one billion users around the world and for our employees globally,” said Jay Rossiter, senior vice president of Product & Engineering at Yahoo.
“He’ll work closely across our teams and collaboratively across the industry to ensure that we’re providing the highest level of security possible to our users, and continue to provide our users with the latest security innovations,” Rossiter added.
