Trustwave announced on Monday that it has acquired Application Security, Inc., (AppSec) a provider of database security solutions.
According to Trustwave, AppSec’s automated database security scanning technologies will strengthen Trustwave’s ability to help customers protect data, reduce security risks and achieve compliance with mandates and regulations.
AppSec develops security software solutions to protect relational databases and big data stores—helping customers uncover critical configuration mistakes, access control issues, missing patches, or any dangerous combination of settings that could lead to denial-of-service attacks, unauthorized data modification and data breaches.
Trustwave said it would continue to develop, support and offer both Application Security, Inc. products, DbProtect and AppDetectivePRO, and will integrate and use those products into Trustwave’s product portfolio.
AppSec’s technology will enhance Trustwave’s penetration testing and vulnerability management services, by brining additional database scanning and testing capabilities that offer customers more comprehensive vulnerability scanning, logging and monitoring across their networks, applications and databases.

New York, NY- based Application Security, Inc. was founded in 2002.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
