Trend Micro Launches Security Solution for VMware vCloud Hybrid Service

Trend Micro has launched a new solution designed for VMware’s vCloud Hybrid Service that enables customers to move their on-premise or private cloud deployment to the public cloud with added layers of protection.

Trend Micro has launched a new solution designed for VMware’s vCloud Hybrid Service that enables customers to move their on-premise or private cloud deployment to the public cloud with added layers of protection.

According Trend Micro, its Deep Security solution features a comprehensive platform for security controls and policies managed across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

Using the solution, administrators can automatically detect virtual machines (VMs) and can apply context-based policies to them for consistent security across the datacenter and into the public cloud, Trend Micro said.

Available on the VMware Solution Exchange, Deep Security for vCloud Hybrid Service allows customers to fulfill their security responsibilities by extending on-premise security to their cloud workloads.

Deep Security’s Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) protects servers from security gaps in virtualized and vCloud Hybrid Service deployments by using application layer packet inspection to detect and prevent attacks at the network level.

A component of Trend Micro’s Cloud and Data Center Security solution, Deep Security combines security capabilities, including intrusion detection and prevention, anti-malware, integrity monitoring, vulnerability scanning, firewall and SSL to simplify security operations while enabling regulatory compliance and accelerating the ROI of virtualization and cloud initiatives.

The Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS) protects against unplanned emergency patching through virtual patching by shielding unpatched vulnerabilities in applications, within vCloud Hybrid Service deployments. By inspecting VM traffic, it enables detection and immediate blocking of suspicious and malicious activity, the company said.
