Symantec today announced the opening of a new Security Operations Center (SOC) located in Herndon, Va.
The new operations center, formerly located in Alexandria, Va., will support the growth of Symantec’s Managed Security Services (MSS) group and joins the company’s other global SOCs in the UK, Australia and India.
“Our new Security Operations Center provides capacity for more than twice the number of technical staff to help us more effectively scale our Managed Security Service offerings to our growing number of customers worldwide,” said Brian Dunphy, senior director of product management, Managed Security Services, Symantec.
Symantec said that its Security Operations Centers analyze more than 12 billion logs each day and leverages the Symantec Global Intelligence Network (GIN) which monitors attack activity worldwide with 240,000 sensors in more than 200 countries, tracking more than 50,000 vulnerabilities in products from 15,000 vendors involving 105,000 technologies.
Symantec’s managed security services model provides customers with an annual price based on the size of their IT footprint, for any of Symantec’s security monitoring offerings regardless of the quantities or types of security technologies. This enables organizations to implement a predictable strategy for security monitoring and management, without having to revisit their plans or budgets as infrastructure changes occur.
