Sophos announced on Monday that it has acquired Cyberoam Technologies, an Ahmedabad, India-based network security company.

The acquisition expands Sophos’ portfolio in network security, and will combine Cyberoam’s Unified Threat Management (UTM), next-generation firewalls with Sophos’ existing security UTM and wireless security offerings.

According to Sophos CEO Kris Hagerman, the company has no plans to make any changes to either company’s 2014 UTM product roadmaps.

“Over time, we will certainly look for opportunities to leverage the best of both companies to enhance our existing products and to add new products to our roadmap,” Hagerman said.

The acquisition expands and accelerates Sophos’ network security product lines with an expanded presence in UTM, advanced threat protection, wireless and next generation firewalls.

Founded in 1999, Cyberoam has more than 65,000 customers, more than 550 employees, and a network of 5,500 partners, with particular strength in India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Combined, Sophos and Cyberoam will have more than 2,200 employees, with more than 600 focused on network security, including more than 350 in R&D.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
