RSA Opens Anti-Fraud Center With Purdue University

RSA today announced expansions to its anti-fraud monitoring and protection grid, with the news that it has opened an Anti Fraud Command Center (AFCC) in West Lafayette, Indiana. The new center is part of a long-standing partnership between RSA and Purdue University.

The purpose of an AFCC is to monitor the Web for Phishing, Pharming, and other mobile-based threats, the company said. RSA’s Purdue-based AFCC will leverage the existing relationships with more than 13,000 web hosting service providers, leading browser developers and ISPs to help block and shut down phishing sites.

Located at the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, Indiana, RSA says the newest AFCC will be a 24×7 organization supporting the FraudAction network. The organization will be staffed by students in the computer science department at Purdue University who will be fully trained, supervised and supported by RSA staff. The students will work alongside the RSA staff and help identify and shut down fraudulent Phishing sites, deploy countermeasures as needed, and conduct extensive forensic work.
