Security solutions provider Rapid7 has launched the latest version of its vulnerability management solution, NeXpose, which will help local governments and private enterprises adhere to Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Certification requirements.
According to US FIPS 140-2 requirements, government agencies and enterprises adhering to government standards are only allowed to use those products and services that come with FIPS certification. The FIPS standard calls for complex cryptographic modules that can be implemented on a significant number of applications and environments.
With the FIPS certification that comes with NeXpose 4.9, government agencies and enterprises will be able deploy a vulnerability detection solution that will allow them to implement a FIPS-certified cryptographic library, capable of encrypting the information shared between a user’s web browser and the application programming interface, providing a more secure environment against cyber attacks. The FIPS certified cryptographic library can also be extended to private enterprises that offer browser and API based services to their customers.
Additionally, Rapid7 NeXpose 4.9 comes with offline activation and updating capabilities, which will clients to activate the software and download regular security updates and patches without connecting to the Internet.
