Query.AI, a company that has developed a security investigations platform for enterprises, this week announced raising $15 million in a Series A funding round, which brings the total raised to nearly $20 million.

The funding round was led by SYN Ventures, with participation from ClearSky Security and South Dakota Equity Partners. The money will be used by the Brookings, South Dakota-based company to scale product development.

Query.AI has developed what it describes as a security investigations control plane, a browser-based platform that organizations can use for investigations and incident response. The platform provides real-time access and centralized insights to data across cloud, on-premises and SaaS applications, without duplicating the data from its native location.

The platform can be integrated with many third-party SIEM and log management, endpoint security, threat intelligence, cloud infrastructure and security, network, vulnerability management, identity and HR, security instrumentation, email and communications, business analytics, and ticketing and CRM products.

“Cybersecurity data no longer lives in just one place,” said Patrick Heim, managing partner of SYN Ventures. “It lives in the cloud, with third-party providers, and on-prem. Companies everywhere are struggling to figure out how they can bring security operations capabilities to these disparate environments, and they’re seeing that it’s extremely difficult, costly, inefficient and ineffective to send information in and out of these silos.

“Query.AI offers the only solution on the market that solves this pervasive problem by leaving the data where it lives, connecting to disparate data sources with APIs, and serving up the ability to access, investigate and respond to the threats in real-time, from one, unified browser interface,” Heim added.
