NSS Labs, a security research and product-testing firm, this week announced that it has raised a Series A funding round from LiveOak Venture Partners.

While the company did not disclose the amount raised in the public announcement, a company spokesperson told SecurityWeek the amount totaled $4 million.

The funding will help support the company’s expansion and continued technology innovation as well as help the company further scale operations, the company said.

The company, which had over 100% bookings growth in 2013, provides analyst research, product testing, and vulnerability analysis. Subscription services include analyst calls, access to NSS analyst research, test reports and toolkits, Threat Modeling of “What If” scenarios, and Threat Intelligence Feeds.

In addition to announcing the funding news, the company also announced the appointment of Venu Shamapant, General Partner of LiveOak Venture Partners to its Board of Directors. This follows other leadership additions earlier this year of Cathy Main, VP of Marketing; Carma Beedle, VP of Sales; and Jennifer Parker, CFO.
