McAfee last week announced the acquisition of NanoSec, a California-based company that specializes in security solutions designed to help organizations protect data center and cloud traffic.

NanoSec, which also has an office in India, offers a zero-trust platform that can provide protection across cloud and container environments. The company says its solutions address security, visibility and agility issues, and claims its customers include a Fortune 500 financial company, a major payroll firm, and a multi-billion dollar manufacturing company.

McAfee hopes that the acquisition of NanoSec can help it strengthen the container security capabilities of its MVISION Cloud and MVISION Server Protection products, including through continuous configuration compliance, vulnerability assessment, and runtime application-level segmentation.

“McAfee’s focus and innovation have allowed it to deliver industry-leading cloud security capabilities to help our customers securely leverage the cloud to accelerate their business,” said Rajiv Gupta, senior VP and GM of the cloud security business unit at McAfee.

“NanoSec’s technology is a natural extension for McAfee MVISION Cloud, enhancing our current CASB and CWPP products, and adding to our ‘Shift-Left’ capabilities to deliver on the DevSecOps best practice to improve governance and security. NanoSec’s team brings a wealth of experience to McAfee, and together we are committed to enabling organizations to reach their full cloud potential,” Gupta added.

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
