Mandiant this week released the latest version of its Redline tool, a software utility that helps incident responders work faster and more efficiently, promising improved analytics, along with enhancements to audit data collection and configurations in the latest version.

Redline is a free tool from Alexandria, Virginia-based Mandiant that that allows investigators to search for Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and is designed to help in the initial stages of an investigation when a host is suspected of being compromised.

Once launched, Redline analyzes every running process on the system and rates it according to risk. The latest version offers the ability to include and search for Indicators of Compromise, and the creation of a searchable report of the findings. In addition, there is multitasking for those wanting to do an investigation while an IOC search is running.

Collection and configuration wise, the latest Redline allows users to collect a wider range of host data, including file listings and event logs, which in turn can be converted into searchable data.

“Incident responders facing advanced threats in their organizations need the ability to sweep their networks, not just for malware but for all Indicators of Compromise,” said Dave Merkel, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Products at Mandiant in a statement.

“By integrating the ability to use IOCs into the core functionality of Redline, we have made it easier for responders to rapidly triage compromised systems, so they can contain advanced threats in their environments.”

More information about Redline, including the download itself, is available here.
