Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced a series of products today meant to bolster its security portfolio.
The emphasis of many of the products is the public sector. Among the products added to HP’s Security for Public Sector portfolio is HP Assured Identity, Comprehensive Applications Threat Analysis (CATA) on Demand and HP Security Operations Center (SOC) Consulting Services. While Assured Identity focuses on identity management, CATA on Demand is focused on secure app development. HP SOC Consulting Services meanwhile is aimed at public sector clients outside the U.S., with the goal of enabling them to establish an onsite “intelligent” cybersecurity operations center, the company said.
In addition, HP also announced a set of products aimed at enterprises: HP Data Center Protection Services, HP ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager 6.0c and HP TippingPoint NX Platform Next Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems (NGIPS).
HP also announced a free mobile application for security pros that utilizes data from HP Digital Vaccine Labs (DVLabs) to monitor cyber-threats. According to the company, HP Information Security Pulse enables security professionals to rapidly determine and address risks that may affect their environment. The application is currently available for webOS, Apple iOS , Android and web browser platforms.
“Cybersecurity threats are growing exponentially, and without a proactive information risk management strategy, enterprise growth, innovation and efficiencies are hindered,” said George Kadifa, executive vice president of HP’s software unit, in a statement.
Printer security is also a focus of today’s announcements. The company said it has expanded HP Access Control (HP AC) for the healthcare industry, and added the HP Imaging and Printing Security Assessment solution, which scans the print environment for risks, to its portfolio. The company also said it has updated its HP Imaging and Printing Security Center solution, increasing automation and expanding HP Instant-on Security device support.
According to new HP-commissioned study by Coleman Parkes Research, less than half of the 550 executives surveyed said their company currently has an information risk management plan in place. In addition, 53 percent said their organization either manually consolidate risk management reports or doesn’t measure risk at all.
