Good Technology, a provider of enterprise mobility and security solutions, today said that it has acquired AppCentral, a provider of technology that lets customers ‘wrap’ their mobile applications.
AppCentral’s products enable enterprises to distribute, manage, and protect data and enterprise mobile applications on iOS, Android, and Windows devices.
Good said that AppCentral’s technology would add to the capabilities of its Good Dynamics platform.
“Our acquisition of AppCentral will accelerate and enhance our ability to provide enterprises, ISVs and systems integrators with the ability to secure and manage mobile apps, helping them maximize the power of mobility,” said King Lee, president and CEO, Good Technology.
AppCentral’s ‘app wrapping’ functions build upon the application security framework, libraries and services already available in the Good Dynamics platform.
“With the addition of AppCentral, Good Dynamics, provides enterprise developers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) with the option to either add an application security ‘wrapper’ without code integration, or integrate Good Dynamics security libraries directly into their application code,” the company explained in a statement.
While both approaches provide enterprise-grade application security, code integration delivers additional benefits, such as enabling mobile application developers to define app-specific policies (e.g. controlling file access in collaboration apps based on size, type, or other attributes) and to publish app services that multiple apps can utilize without having to duplicate code across every application.
All AppCentral employees will become full-time employees of Good Technology and AppCentral’s San Francisco headquarters will be converted to a Good Technology office.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
