Netherlands-based security solutions provider Fox-IT today announced the launch of the company’s Cyberthreat Management Platform.

The new context-driven threat intelligence solution is designed to help organizations protect their systems against both known and unknown threats, Fox-IT said.

According to the security firm, the solution is designed to strengthen operational capabilities in areas such as intelligence, prevention, detection, and response.

The Cyberthreat Management Platform delivers applied and contextual threat intelligence useful for determining the attackers’ motives and the overall risk profile. Contextual intelligence is provided by a variety of sources, including internal data from security products, external feeds, and the security company’s own threat intelligence.

Fox-IT says the platform is based on a multi-layered architecture that integrates existing security products and available intelligence in an effort to increase the chances of detecting and mitigating unknown threats at an early stage. In order to avoid a negative impact on productivity, the solution prioritizes real and immediate threats while ensuring that security teams don’t waste time on false positives, noise, and low-level threats.

The Fox-IT Cyberthreat Management Platform includes several tools and services that enable companies to have a unified control over cyber threat management operations.

The solution is controlled from a central management portal that provides C-level executives with threat and risk information, and incident response teams and security operation center (SOC) analysts with a workflow-based threat analytics environment.

The platform uses different modules to carry out various tasks. The network module is designed to detect and mitigate both known and new threats, and collect forensic data that can later be used to investigate the attack. Endpoints and servers are protected with an endpoint module that relies on a signature-less approach.

An interesting component of the Cyberthreat Management Platform is the adaptive defense module. This module creates a decoy network that helps security teams detect targeted attacks that might be leveraging unknown vectors and methods.

“Most security products are still dependent on elementary indicators of compromise (IOCs) information and are not designed to facilitate in-depth security analytics, which is why they have a hard time detecting and stopping APTs and constantly evolving threats,” explained Menno van der Marel, CEO and co-founder of Fox-IT. “We developed this platform specifically to find and analyze the unknown threats that will lead to the next big breach, not the last one, and drastically cut down on the time until new threats are known, understood and stopped.”

For security information and event management (SIEM) integration, the solution is designed to communicate with any existing SIEM technology through Common Event Format (CEF), an open log management standard.

The Fox-IT Cyberthreat Management Platform can be acquired as a fully managed service, an offering which benefits from a global 24/7 security operations center. It can also be delivered as a hybrid to organizations that want to handle cyberthreat management on their own, but need some assistance to get started. In addition, the solution and its modules can be acquired individually as stand-alone components.
