Former Iron Mountain CEO Joins Cloud-Based Application Security Provider

Veracode, a provider of application security testing technology, today announced that it has appointed Bob Brennan as CEO of the Burlington, Massachusetts based company.

Brennan joins Veracode after most recently serving as chief executive officer of document storage company Iron Mountain. Brennan stepped down from the top spot at Iron Mountain in April 2011, after pressure from shareholders for changes in the company’s strategy.

Brennan succeeds interim CEO Maria Cirino who will remain the chair of Veracode’s Board of Directors. Prior to Iron Mountain, Brennan was CEO of Connected Corp., a provider enterprise backup solutions, which was acquired by Iron Mountain and served as the backbone of its Iron Mountain Digital unit created in 2004. Iron Mountain sold its digital division including archiving, eDiscovery, and online backup to Autonomy Corporation for $380 million in cash in May 2011.

Veracode says it added more than 200 new customers worldwide in the past year as it competes in the Application security testing segment of the security and vulnerability management market, which industry analyst firm IDC predicts will exceed $5.2 billion in revenues by the end of 2014.

“Given the media spotlight on high profile security breaches, businesses and consumers around the globe are increasingly aware of the real issues surrounding insecure software,” said Brennan. “By joining this company, I now have an opportunity to work with an incredibly talented team, an impressive customer base and proven technology to solve a problem of global importance.”

“This is an exciting time for all of us at Veracode,” said Cirino, who also serves as managing director at .406 Ventures, a Boston based VC firm and Veracode investor. “Bob has valuable experience as the head of consistently top-performing companies. We truly believe his leadership will accelerate our mission of making the world’s software more secure.”
