Messaging security firm Cloudmark today announced Cloudmark Mobile Platform 3.0, the latest edition of its messaging security solution for mobile network operators.

Cloudmark Mobile Platform 3.0 provides real-time visibility and control of mobile messaging threats originating from internal or external networks and delivers the policy controls and scalability to help operators stop threats before they impact mobile networks and subscribers, the company said.

According to recent figures coming from Cloudmark, there has been a massive uptick in the volume of SMS Phishing attacks seen this month. In fact, since September 4, Cloudmark said there has been an increase of more than 900-percent in the overall total of attacks normally seen on a month-to-month basis.

Pushing its scalability and ability to protect even the largest mobile networks, CloudMark says that its latest mobile platform enables network operators to protect their revenues while improving brand reputation and competitiveness by implementing its security solutions.

Additionally, the company says operators can reduce the operating costs associated with grey traffic and bulk-messaging SIM Boxes on their network, as well as implementing controls to stop the spread of spam, phishing and malware to their subscriber base.

For consumers, benefits include services such as parental controls for mobile messaging, including personalized block and allow lists, time-of-day usage, message volume limits, anti-bullying and bashing, and anti-sexting policies.

For the benefit of enterprise mobile subscribers, operators are able offer security services including message archiving to corporate mail systems, data leakage prevention, and abusive image protection to simplify compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. Additionally, Cloudmark Mobile Platform’s enterprise-wide block and allow lists also provide extra security by only allowing authorized senders and receivers to exchange messages or access specific content, while time-of-day policies enable enterprises to take more control messaging traffic.

“Businesses and consumers rely on their mobile devices to access sensitive information, so mobile network operators must offer protection against mobile security threats such as spam, phishing and scams,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics. “Providers want to block unwanted messaging traffic before it can impact their network and subscribers, and customers want take control of their mobile device security, and Cloudmark Mobile Platform achieves both goals.”

Cloudmark currently counts more than 30 mobile operators as customers, including eight of the world’s top mobile network operators and protects 15 percent of global mobile subscribers.
