Bitdefender Launches Cloud-based Endpoint Security Solution

Internet security firm Bitdefender announced the availability of its new cloud-based endpoint security offering this week.

Designed to deliver the benefits of an on-premise enterprise security solution, “Cloud Security for Endpoints by Bitdefender” is built to provide a simple and flexible solution to protect end-user systems and servers without the overhead of additional software, hardware and IT staff.

“Cloud Security for Endpoints is the first cloud-based solution in Bitdefender’s new business security offering,” explained Rares Stefan, director of business solutions at Bitdefender. “Security as a service simplifies IT investment, generating immediate savings through reduced up-front costs and overhead, thereby allowing organizations to focus on their core business.”

Designed for deployment in situations ranging from a single office to geographically distant sites, or a remote workforce, Cloud Security for Endpoints provides unobtrusive scanning with no user input required, as scans, updates and configuration changes are centrally managed and performed in the background.

Bitdefender’s Cloud Security for Endpoints is built on the company’s new “Gravity Architecture” which also powers its Security for Virtualized Environments solution and enables centralized management and reporting of multiple Bitdefender security products. By building the new architecture around virtual containers, large enterprises and service providers can offer their customers scalable security solutions.

Customers won’t need to upgrade the Cloud Security Console as all of the features and scaling capacity expected in an enterprise-class security solution is available from day one.

According to Bitdefender, the solution is attractive to small and medium businesses and also ideal for managed security service providers using the service hosted by Bitdefender, or for service providers and very large enterprises hosting the solution in their own virtualized datacenters.

Cloud Security for Endpoints by Bitdefender is available immediately through distribution and reseller partners worldwide.

Late last month, Bitdefender announced the availability of its security solution for virtualized data centers. Dubbed “Bitdefender Security for Virtualized Environments” (SVE), the product protects environments running VMware or any other major virtualization plarform, including hypervisors from Citrix Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle VM and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization running Windows, Linux, and Solaris. When installed in VMware environments, SVE works with VMware’s vShield Endpoint, technology that offloads anti-malware agent processing to a dedicated virtual appliance.
