BeyondTrust, a Carlsbad, California-based provider of identity management solutions, today announced that is has acquired vulnerability management solution provider, eEye Digital Security.

Through the acquisution, the companies plan to offer customers an end-to-end threat management solution to address both internal and external vulnerabilities and threats.

On the product side, BeyondTrust said it would integrate eEye’s Retina CS Vulnerability Management and Analytics solutions with its own PowerBroker family of products to offer context-driven security and compliance solutions.

That combination, they say, will simplify the prioritization of vulnerabilities with additional context of privilege, privilege use, data sensitivity, and data flow.

“Attacks today are more sophisticated than ever, with client-side attacks becoming the most prevalent method of entry, leveraging known vulnerabilities and exploiting user’s rights and privileges to pilfer sensitive data from enterprises,” said John Mutch, CEO at BeyondTrust.

Founded in 1998 by Marc Maiffret, eEye Digital Security counts over 10,000 customers around the world, including the Department of Defense, and offers software, appliances and services to help organizations protect their assets – including mobile, virtual and those in the cloud – from critical threats.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

In May, 2011, BeyondTrust acquired Lumigent Technologies, a Massachusetts-based provider of database security and activity monitoring solutions to give the company a database security offering.
