Aqua Security Acquires Software Development Security Firm Argon

Aqua Security, a cloud security company specializing in containers, on Wednesday announced the acquisition of software development security firm Argon. Both companies are based in Israel.

Aqua told SecurityWeek that the acquisition price is in the tens of millions of dollars.

Aqua says Argon complements its capabilities. The company claims that following the acquisition, its platform becomes capable of protecting the full software development lifecycle, including cloud applications, their code, and CI/CD infrastructure.

Argon emerged from stealth mode in March 2021 with $4 million in seed funding, at around the same time as Aqua announced achieving unicorn status following a $135 million funding round.

“With the addition of Argon to the Aqua Platform, we continue to execute on our vision of full lifecycle cloud native protection,” said Dror Davidoff, CEO and co-founder of Aqua. “There’s a lot of noise in the growing cloud native security market, but few vendors offer true CNAPP capabilities. The addition of Argon’s unique technology propels Aqua even further ahead of the competition making us the only vendor in the space that fully protects how cloud applications are developed, deployed, and run.”

Aqua has raised a total of $256 million. The company says its products are used by some of the world’s largest enterprises in the financial services, media, software, manufacturing and retail sectors.
