Apple this week released updates for iTunes and iCloud for Windows applications, to address recently disclosed SQLite and WebKit security flaws in them.
iTunes for Windows 12.9.5 was released with patches for a total of 25 vulnerabilities. Of these, four impact SQLite, while the remaining 21 were addressed in WebKit.
The SQLite flaws include CVE-2019-8577 and CVE-2019-8602, which could allow an application to gain elevated privileges, CVE-2019-8600, which could lead to arbitrary code execution, and CVE-2019-8598, which could allow an application to read restricted memory.
Tracked as CVE-2019-8607, the first of the WebKit flaws, Apple explains in its advisory, could lead to the disclosure of process memory when processing maliciously crafted web content.
The remaining 20 bugs could lead to arbitrary code execution during the processing of maliciously crafted web content. These bugs were reported by various researchers working with Trend Micro Zero Day, Google Project Zero, Chaitin Security Research, Georgia Tech, Qihoo 360, Tencent, Venustech, and KAIST Web Security & Privacy Lab and KAIST SoftSec Lab.
iCloud for Windows 7.12 too was released with patches for all these security issues, Apple reveals.
Security updates that Apple released two weeks ago for iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, also addressed these vulnerabilities, along with tens more. At the time, the company also released Safari 12.1.1, which included patches for all of the aforementioned 21 vulnerabilities in WebKit.
