AirTight Networks’ Wireless IPS Gets FIPS 140-2 Security Certification

AirTight Networks, a provider of wireless security solutions, today announced that SpectraGuard Enterprise, the company’s flagship wireless intrusion prevention solution, has achieved FIPS 140-2 validation, making it certified for deployment within U.S. federal government agencies, including the Department of Defense.

The SpectraGuard wireless intrusion prevention solution (WIPS) family provides enterprise security and compliance teams with strong capabilities to detect, classify, block and locate Wi-Fi security threats, while helping network operations staff to monitor and troubleshoot WLAN performance issues.

FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is required under the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA). Under the Information Technology Management Reform Act, the Secretary of Commerce approves standards and guidelines that are developed by the NIST for Federal computer systems for government-wide use.
