Total Defense, a provider of Internet security solutions, today launched Total Defense for Business, a solution that the company calls a “complete cloud security solution”.

Total Defense for Business delivers multi-layered protection by bundling together endpoint anti-malware and application controls, Web filtering and malware protection, and cloud-based anti-spam and email threat prevention.

Being a cloud-based solution, Total Defense for Business is able to protect users regardless of where they may be located—inside the walls of the enterprise walls or on-the-go.

The company, which was was previously the Internet Security division of CA Technologies before being sold off to Private equity firm Updata Partners in May 2011, says that the solution extends protection to Windows, Mac and Linux devices.

“Traditional security approaches are no longer adequate in dealing with the proliferation of threats, increasing application vulnerabilities and the rapid adoption of cloud for business applications,” said Fran Howarth, senior analyst at Bloor Research. “Total Defense offers a suite of mature technologies that answer those critical needs, including a range of complementary capabilities that are above and beyond those typically seen within this market sector.”

Like most cloud-based solutions, Total Defense for Business is deployable in hours, and does not require any on-premise software or appliance solutions.
