Intego Updates Mac Security Products

Intego, a provider of security products designed exclusively for Mac OS, introduced its latest product line this week, including VirusBarrier X8 and NetBarrier X8.

The company, which has been making Mac security software for 17 years, says the new versions of VirusBarrier and NetBarrier offer a streamlined user experience and have been updated to provide even stronger protection against Internet threats.

VirusBarrier is the company’s anti-malware solution that provides users with protection from Mac and PC malware.

NetBarrier is essentially a software-based firewall that identifies applications using network connections and can block or allow connections. The product helps identify rogue applications accessing the Internet which could expose confidential data, or act as backdoors into a system. NetBarrier is great and interesting way to monitor and control where your applications are connecting to.

Alongside an all-new user interface, VirusBarrier X8 has a new low-priority scanning mode for enhanced performance while NetBarrier X8 has enhanced rule functionality for easier configuration and new firewall/application monitoring options, the company said.

“We designed our X8 product line to be incredibly effective, straightforward and unobtrusive — exactly how our customers expect their Macs to operate,” said Jeff Erwin, CEO of Intego.

Intego is offering several different bundles, including:
