Google Cloud Introduces New Zero Trust Offerings for Government

Google Cloud this week announced a new set of services aimed at help federal, state, and local government organizations in the United States to implement Zero Trust architecture.

A recent Biden administration Executive Order on Improving the Nation's Cybersecurity requires government organizations adhere to a Zero Trust approach to cybersecurity, and Google Cloud has launched three new service offerings tailored to meet those needs and to be in line with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.

A newly introduced Zero Trust Assessment and Planning tool should help governments plan their Zero Trust architecture so as to reach security goals for core applications and data. The service is offered through Google Cloud's professional services organization (PSO), which provides the necessary guidance to achieve a Zero Trust framework.

In collaboration with Palo Alto Networks, Google Cloud introduced Secure Application Access Anywhere, a container-based offering that provides secure access and monitoring of applications running in both cloud and on-premises environments.

Finally, Google Cloud also launched a new Active Cyber Threat Detection offering to help organizations in the government sector quickly identify potential compromised from yet undetected cyberattacks. The service is being offered in partnership with Deloitte and Fishtech CYDERES.

Google Cloud has had other solutions as well to help government agencies move toward a Zero Trust approach and improve their resilience against cyberattacks, including BeyondCorp Enterprise (which delivers secure access to internal web applications, SaaS applications, and cloud resources), Google Workspace (for secure email, communication, and collaboration), and Actifio GO (data protection and recovery to better fight ransomware).
