Rapid7, a provider of security risk and penetration testing solutions, this week announced that it has launched certification programs for users of Nexpose and Metasploit Pro.

Boston-based Rapid7 said it offers formalized, curriculum-based training for its products with hands-on technical lab exercises.

Training is available in virtual open enrollment, virtual dedicated and on-site classroom formats, with custom training options available to help customers with specific training objectives.

With the new certifications, managers can ensure that their employees are best prepared to install, configure, and operate their Rapid7 solutions, the company said.

“Certification enables security professionals to ensure that they are armed with the knowledge to get the most out of Rapid7’s solutions,” said Mike McKee, senior vice president of Support and Services at Rapid7. “These certifications help security professionals build their credibility with internal stakeholders and management, and deliver greater value and confidence to the organization.”

The company, which recently moved into a new 46,000 sq. foot headquarters in Boston’s Financial District, said the certifications would also help hiring managers identify talented employees that will have the most impact on their security team.

Security professionals use Rapid7 Nexpose, the company’s vulnerability management solution, to scan on-premise, cloud, and virtual assets and their applications and services, providing vulnerability coverage.

Metasploit Pro, the company’s flagship penetration testing tool, gives security professionals insight into threats being used by attackers in the wild, and the ability to test their defenses against them.

“Certifications go hand-in-hand with the continual growth required to be a professional in the information security field and can make the difference between two equally qualified candidates,” said Louis Sanchez, network system specialist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. “From that perspective, the Metasploit Pro Specialist Certification is a great way to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with Metasploit. After having taken it, I’d definitely recommend it to my peers and will also update my social profile to display the certification.”

Nexpose Administrator Certification and Metasploit Pro Specialist Certification testing is available immediately and priced at $2,000 for a virtual two-day class.
